An experienced executive from Germany has joined Scania Australia.
Stefan Weber will take on the role of Director of After Sales.
For the past nine years he has served as Dealer Director of the largest region in Germany selling Scania trucks.
He was responsible for the delivery of more than 1,100 new trucks annually and controlled 11 captive workshops in the region.
Prior to joining Scania, Weber held senior sales and service positions with a major authorised materials handling dealer in northern Germany and served as an officer in the German Army.
“I had never been to Australia prior to joining Scania Australia, but I am very excited to be here and take up the challenge of maximising our customer’s uptime,” he said.
“There is much to learn about the country so I will be visiting our captive and non-captive dealer network and gaining a better understanding of how the business works and where we need to make changes to accommodate the growing numbers of Scania vehicles on the road in Australia.
“Scania prides itself in forming business partnerships with its customers, understanding what makes their businesses work, and how we can assist by making their vehicles as productive and efficient as possible.
“As a company, Scania has devised many sophisticated business tools to ensure vehicles are available for work for as long as possible, for example via our repair and maintenance contracts and preventative maintenance planning, all of which is driven by our advanced vehicle communications data system.
“With a growing captive network of capital city dealerships backed by an extensive national network of more than 60 authorised independent dealers, we are keeping our promise of driving our customers’ businesses forward.
“Scania’s After Sales division is in good shape, with two new warehouses recently commissioned and a new sales and service branch just opened at Eastern Creek in New South Wales, but we plan to open more captive service locations to provide our growing customer base with greater convenience.
“As the next generation of sustainable trucks rolls into Australia, we will need to enhance our aftersales service and parts strategies to encompass these new technologies, as well as ensure we are recruiting and training enough technicians conversant with battery electric and hybrid systems.
“This is a very exciting time for Scania and for transport in Australia. As we transition to more sustainable forms of transport, there is great opportunity for Scania to continue to grow.”
Earlier this year, the Motor Trade Association (MTA) SA/NT acquired a new Scania R560 truck through a partnership with Scania Australia to support the organisation’s heavy vehicle training.
