NSW Govt announces EV charging network

JOLT and Transport for NSW have announced a major partnership, which will see a network of electric vehicle (EV) chargers be built across select urban locations.

JOLT will roll out more than 50 initial street-side charging stations at key Greater Sydney transport locations.

Across the JOLT EV charing network, all drivers will have access to 7kWh of free charging per day — providing around 40 to 50km of range and a 15-20 minute charging time, depending on the type of vehicle.

New South Wales Treasurer, Matt Kean, said the Government wants to make NSW the easiest state to own an EV by increasing the number of chargers from 1,000 to 30,000 in the next three years.

“By 2030 we expect 50 per cent of new car sales to be EVs and we need to start expanding the infrastructure to make it as easy as possible for EV drivers,” he said.

“We want all drivers to be able to recharge whenever and wherever they need to, whether it’s on a road trip, commuting to work or at home.”

In addition, JOLT has recently announced a further expansion into the Endeavour Energy network area and Melbourne, delivering hundreds of fast chargers in the coming years.
