The Ford F-150 Lightning has changed a lot of minds about what an electric truck can do. Now, it can add one big accolade to its growing list: Time named the F-150 Lightning one of The Best Inventions of 2022 in its annual list. The F-150 Lightning became the first mass-produced EV truck to come to market this year and almost immediately sold out. What makes this truck so special to buyers and the judges at Time?
What makes it one of the 200 best inventions of the year?
Time praised the F-150 Lightning’s capability as much as its other electric superpowers. It was praised for its ability to go 230 miles on a charge, in the base version, as well as tow up to 10,000 pounds. But, Time also likes it Pro Power Onboard feature that can power a home or a campsite with ease. But, it seems, Time really praised Ford making EVs available to the masses for the first time.
Time magazine picked 200 inventions from across the globe that broke ground or changed how we live in 2022. There are 27 categories as diverse as Food and Drink to Parenting, Toys and Play, and of course, automotive. The F-150 shares its award with wild inventions like bionic hands, paper batteries, a Space X rocket.
What other automotive inventions won?

Electric car manufacturer Lucid was recognized for its Lucid Air sedan. Time likes that it can go 300 miles on a charge, but also tap into 1,200 horsepower that helps this sedan scramble to 60 mph in about two seconds. BMW also picked up an award for its BMW iX Flow featuring E Ink. E Ink is a new body from BMW that change its color at the push of a button using a special electrophoretic technology.
Time also awarded the new Gatik driverless truck for making deliveries without a driver something we can all look forward to.
